Eligibility for Admission to Degree Courses
1. Applicants must have passed the Higher Secondary (H.S) or class XII or equivalent examination recognized by the University of North Bengal to which the college is affiliated.
2. Candidates from I.S.C., C.B.S.E., National Open School or other recognized Boards must have passed in at least five academic subjects.
3. a) H.S. Candidates applying for Honours courses require 45% marks in the aggregate and 45% marks in the appropriate subject OR 40 % in the aggregate and 50% in the subject; others require 55% in the aggregate and 55% marks in the appropriate subject. For a General course, the above figures are 40 % and 50 % respectively.
b) Applicants for Economics Honours must have passed in mathematics or business economics including business mathematics in the qualifying examination.
c) Applicants for B.Sc Computer Science (Honours and General) must have passed in mathematics in the H.S. or its equivalent examination.
d) Applicants for Bachelor of Computer Applications (B.C.A.) must have mathematics (not commercial maths or business maths) as a core subject in the H.S. or its equivalent examination.
e) Applicants for B.B.A. and B.A. Mass Communication and Journalism should have passed 10+2 in any stream, with English as one of the subjects.
f) Applicants for B.Sc Microbiology (Honours) should have passed in chemistry and biology at the qualifying examination. The selected candidates must take chemistry as an elective.
g) Applicants for B.Sc Physics must have passed in maths and physics in the qualifying examination.
i) First selection is made for General course. From the selected candidates Honours students are selected taking 50% of their board marks in the subject and 50% of the aptitude test marks. For subjects where aptitude tests are not conducted selection is made only from their board marks.
j) For all SC/ST and Christian candidates, 5 % relaxation is given in the aggregate.
4. Applicants for the honours in English, History, political science, botany, physics and Zoology courses must appear for an aptitude test, in the honours subjects. An applicant can apply for more than one honours subject, but not more than three. The matter for the test will be based on the syllabus of the previous qualifying examinations. It is displayed in the college notice board prior to the aptitude test and also available in the college website. Admission to the General Course will be based only on merit. There will be an interview for B.B.A. and B.A. Mass Communication and Journalism.
